64-Story, 790-Unit Building Rises Above Street Level At 401 West 31st Street, Manhattan West

In December 2014, YIMBY noticed excavation beginning at 401 West 31st Street, in Midtown West, where Brookfield Properties is developing a 64-story, 790-unit residential building, featuring 3,440 square feet of retail space; now the building is a floor above street level, per Curbed. The building will measure a total 756,700 square feet, and SOM is designing, while SLCE is serving as the architect of record. Completion of the tower is expected in Summer 2017.

Revealed: 411 Ninth Avenue, aka Skylight House, Midtown West

UPDATE: while permits would seem to indicate condominium’s given the developer’s LLC, a rep for HTO has corrected YIMBY, and 411 Ninth Avenue will actually have rentals.

A sliver lot on the northwest corner of Ninth Avenue and 33rd Street has remained vacant for quite some time, but YIMBY now has the reveal for the building that will soon rise at 411 Ninth Avenue. HTO Architect is designing the project, which has been dubbed Skylight House.

Design Update on 470 Eleventh Avenue, aka Hudson Rise, Stalled Hudson Yards Mixed-Use Skyscraper

With the first of Related’s Hudson Yards towers now inching towards its pinnacle, it should come as no surprise that other developers with nearby sites are also beginning to move ahead with plans of their own. Kuafu Properties and Siras Development are building a 700-foot tall 42-story mixed-use tower at 470 Eleventh Avenue, between 37th and 38th Streets, and YIMBY has a fresh set of close-up renderings that also show some slight modifications to the “lantern-inspired” design.

111 West 57th Street Lands $725 Million In Financing

JDS and PMG’s 82-story, 60-unit condominium tower at 111 West 57th Street, in Midtown, has received a $725 million construction loan, thanks to AIG and Apollo Global Management. SHoP Architects is designing, and the supertall is now expected to stand 1,438 feet to its pinnacle. The existing Steinway building is being partially demolished, and foundation work is currently underway, with completion slated for 2018, according to Crain’s Business. In April, YIMBY brought you new renderings of the project.
