Buildings At 949 Flatbush Avenue Being Transformed Into Single Commercial Structure, Flatbush

Ash Management has filed applications to renovate and expand the low-rise building assemblage spanning 947-955 Flatbush Avenue and 2-10 Snyder Avenue, in northern Flatbush, into a single three-story, 34,820 square-foot commercial building. The final structure will have retail space on the ground floor and offices above. Gabriel Gingishvili’s MGM Creations is designing.

New 10,000 Square-Foot Retail Building Filed For 1959 University Avenue, University Heights

Sopher Realty has filed applications for a single-story, 9,745 square-foot commercial-retail building spanning the lots at 1953-1965 University Avenue, in University Heights. Howell Belanger Castelli Architects is designing, and the existing single-story retail structure most recently passed pre-demolition inspection late in March. The site’s current structure was involved in a fire late last year, according to DNAinfo.

The Four Seasons Restaurant is a New York City icon within a New York City icon (the Seagram Building) and to say proposed changes to it were unwelcomed by the members of the Landmarks Preservation Commission would be the understatement of the week. The building, located at 375 Park Avenue / 99 East 52nd Street, was completed in 1958 and the restaurant opened one year later. They are the product of legendary architects Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson, along with the firm of Kahn & Jacobs. The restaurant is a symbol of New York’s power and greatness. Most of us will never dine there, but those who have consider its spaces basically sacred.
