A few days ago, partial renderings of the new mixed-use development coming to 147-151 East 86th Street surfaced. The site abuts one of the most prominent corners of the Upper East Side in terms of pedestrian traffic, and fittingly, the existing structure will soon meet the wrecking ball for a new 21-story building with an address of 1289 Lexington Avenue, which YIMBY can now reveal.

The Stonewall Inn, located at 51-53 Christopher Street, has been designated an individual landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The unanimous vote took place Tuesday shortly before noon and was greeted by a roar of applause. This unusual move gives the bar’s history as part the LGBT rights movement the official city recognition many say it deserves.
YIMBY previously posted renderings of a tentative redesign and redevelopment set for the Macy’s store in Downtown Brooklyn, and now we have another submission from the project’s competition, though evidently this creation was not selected. The design comes from Leeser Architecture and would have featured two residential towers in addition to new and revamped retail space.
Brooklyn Heights Cinema has gotten the final nail in its coffin. The existing nearly double height single-story structure at 70 Henry Street, which dates back to 1896, will be subsumed by a five-story building designed by Morris Adjmi, thanks to approval by the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday.
