New Rendering for 19 Dutch as Completion Nears, Financial District

Progress on the 64-story 19 Dutch is moving quickly toward completion, with the development gearing up for the start of leasing in the next few months. The residential project has already seen the completion of the majority of its façade, with only the area under the exterior hoist remaining to be filled-in. Our last coverage of the skyscraper included birds-eye images from 3WTC’s rooftop. Today, we have a sneak peek look at the building’s newest rendering.

Permits Filed for 1230 Prospect Avenue, Foxhurst, The Bronx

Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 1230 Prospect Avenue, in Foxhurst, The Bronx. The site is seven blocks away from the Freeman Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Badaly Architects is responsible for the design. The development will also be just two blocks away from another project by the firm, at 872 Home Street.

We last covered 550 Clinton Avenue when the plans were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission a few weeks ago. Today, we have an interview with the project’s architect Morris Adjmi, illuminating the challenges of building a new tower in a landmarked district. We also have a fresh rendering of the site, depicting 550 Clinton Avenue as approved by the LPC.

The Moinian Group Files for 37-Story Tower at 3 Platt Street, Financial District

Permits have been filed by the Moinian Group for a major new 37-story mixed-use tower to rise at 3 Platt Street, in the Financial District of Manhattan. The building will also have the address of 110 John Street. The site is five blocks away from the Fulton Street subway station entrance, serviced by the A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains.

Permits Filed for 150-16 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica, Queens

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 150-16 Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. The site is two blocks from Parsons Boulevard, serviced by the E and F trains, and the Jamaica Center subway station is seven blocks away, serviced by the E, J, and Z trains. Façade Installation Nearly Complete for 196 Orchard Street, Lower East Side, Manhattan

Construction at 196 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan has reached a new milestone, with the installation of the building’s glazed-brick façade nearing completion. The 11-story residential building stands above Houston Street, beside Katz Delicatessen. It reaches a height of 120 feet, thanks to the purchase of air rights from the deli.

Momentous Redevelopment of the South Bronx’s Spofford Juvenile Detention Center Approved

Following a crucial vote by The New York City Council Committee on Land Use, a massive redevelopment proposal for the long-vacant Spofford Juvenile Detention Center in the the South Bronx will officially move forward. The project is expected to have transformative effects on the surrounding Hunts Point neighborhood, and is the latest component of the city’s multi-billion dollar initiative to rejuvenate the South Bronx.

The site is three blocks away from the 77^th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 and 6 trains, and four blocks away from the 72^nd Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Continental Ventures is responsible for the development.

Central Park Tower Stretches Toward Supertall Territory On Way to 1,550′ Pinnacle

After covering 220 Central Park South and 111 West 57^th Street, it’s time we cover the tallest of the three skyscrapers under construction on Midtown’s billionaire’s alley. 217 West 57^th Street is currently on track to reach 1,550 feet above the ground. Once complete, it will be the tallest residential skyscraper in the country and second tallest tower in the country. Extell Development is responsible for the project.
