Central Park Tower aka 217 West 57th Street Set for 2021 Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

Taking the top spot in our construction countdown for the third year is the Central Park Tower, the tallest building by roof height in the Western Hemisphere and the tallest residential skyscraper in the world. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and developed by Extell, the 1,550-foot supertall stands nearly complete at 217 West 57th Street on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown. Developers are expecting a $4 billion sellout for its 179 residences, which are being marketed by Corcoran Sunshine.

Developers Secure $349M for Bronx Point Affordable Housing Complex, in the South Bronx

L+M Development Partners, Type A Projects, BronxWorks, and the City of New York have closed on $349 million financing package to complete phase one of Bronx Point, a new mixed-use affordable housing complex in the South Bronx. As a public-private partnership, the financing entities include the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York City Housing Development Corporation, Empire State Development, Wells Fargo, and additional private funding sources.

111 West 57th Street’s Façade Continues to Wrap Up in Midtown

Exterior work is getting closer to completion on 111 West 57th Street, a 1,428-foot-tall residential supertall on Billionaires’ Row and number two on our countdown of the tallest projects under construction in the city. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by   JDS Development, Property Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, the 60-unit Midtown skyscraper stands as the world’s most slender structure with a height-to-width ratio of 24:1.

Work Continues on ‘The Summit’ Observatory Atop One Vanderbilt in Midtown East

Work is moving along on the observatory in One Vanderbilt, a 1,401-foot-tall commercial supertall in Midtown East and number four on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the city. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the 77-story skyscraper occupies a full-block parcel immediately to the west of Grand Central Terminal. Though the $1.4 billion property has been officially open since its ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid September, the indoor-outdoor observatory dubbed The Summit isn’t due to welcome the public until October 2021.
