Renderings Revealed Of Pennsylvania Station-Farley Complex Transportation Project

Earlier this year, Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a request for proposals (RFP) to upgrade, modernize, and expand Pennsylvania Station, located at Eighth Avenue and West 33rd Street under Madison Square Garden. The project will also incorporate the landmarked James A. Farley Post Office Building into the transportation complex. Four-Story, 32,000-Square-Foot Retail Building Filed At 12 West 48th Street, Midtown

DNA Development has filed applications for a four-story, 32,349-square-foot commercial-retail building at 12 West 48th Street, in Midtown. The ground through fourth floors will exclusively contain retail space. The structure will rise 66 feet above street level, which means the ceilings should average 16.5 feet in height. West Village-based Ennead Architects is the architect of record. The amount of commercial space planned clocks in at 23,345 square feet, which is significantly less than the maximum commercial square-footage that could be built, 75,310 square feet. The 7,531-square-foot lot is currently occupied by a parking garage. Permits were filed to demolish it over the summer, as YIMBY previously reported. Completion is expected in early 2018.


86 Delancey Street

Legally Graffitied Building Awaiting Demolition Painted Over By City At 86 Delancey Street, Lower East Side

Renderings were recently revealed of the 12-story, 24-unit mixed-use building planned at 86 Delancey Street, located on the corner of Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. Now, municipal workers have painted over the elaborate and legal graffiti art installed on the existing two-story commercial building, Mass Appeal reported. The currently property owner, developer David Escava, never gave the city his personal permission to paint over the building, but the previous owner did (10 years ago). The structure received demolition permits September 1. The site’s next occupant is expected to measure 29,437 square feet and will feature retail space and residential units. SWA Architecture is designing, although a completion date has not been announced.


76 11th Avenue

Piling Work Underway For Two-Towered, 310-Unit Mixed-Use Project At 76 Eleventh Avenue, Chelsea

Piling work is now underway on the two-towered, 310-unit mixed-use complex under development at 76 Eleventh Avenue, located between West 17th and 18th streets in southern Chelsea. The site can be seen thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The project will consists of 25- and 35-story towers, rising 302 and 402 feet above street level, respectively. A common four-story base will feature 181,893 square feet of commercial space. It will include retail and office space, in addition to the residential amenities. The residential units, located in the towers, will be condominiums, averaging 2,258 square feet apiece. HFZ Capital Group is the developer. Bjarke Ingels Group is the design architect and Woods Bagot is the executive architect. Completion is expected in 2019.


23-20 Jackson Avenue

65,000-Square-Foot Mixed-Use Commercial Building Planned At 23-20 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City

The Vorea Group has signed a 99-year ground-lease, worth roughly $350 million, for the 10,000-square-foot development site at 23-20 Jackson Avenue, located on the corner of Pearson Street in the Court Square section of Long Island City. The developer plans to build a mixed-use commercial building measuring between 50,000 square feet and 65,000 square feet, according to the Wall Street Journal. The lower floors will contain 30,000 square feet of retail space while the upper floors will feature offices. The site, currently occupied by a single-story commercial building, can accommodate up to 50,000 square feet of leasable commercial square-footage. Neither demolition permits nor new building applications have been filed. Real Estate Weekly reported on the details of the lease.
