Dekalb Commons Affordable Housing Complex Breaks Ground in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

City officials, project partners, and community leaders recently joined to celebrate the commencement of construction at Dekalb Commons, a three-building affordable housing complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by Magnusson Architecture & Planning and developed in partnership by the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and St. Nicks Alliance, the buildings are currently addressed as 652 Dekalb Avenue, 639 Dekalb Avenue, and 1187 Fulton Street.

3ELEVEN Completes Construction at 601 West 29th Street in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is complete on 3ELEVEN, a 60-story residential skyscraper at 601 West 29th Street along the border of West Chelsea and Hudson Yards. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development, the 695-foot-tall structure is also known as Tower A alongside the shorter 606 West 30th Street and yields 935 rental units, with 235 designated for affordable housing, as well as 15,000 square feet of retail space on the podium floors. ES Windows supplied the glass curtain wall and Levine Builders served as the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 311 Eleventh Avenue and bound by West 30th Street to the north, West 29th Street to the south, and Eleventh Avenue to the east.

29-Story Mixed-Use Tower Takes Shape at 626 Summit Avenue in Jersey City

Construction is moving quickly at 626 Summit Avenue, the site of a new 29-story mixed-use tower in Jersey City. Designed by MVMK Architects for an anonymous development company, the building will contain 209 rental units, two retail suites, and office space.

Urban League Empowerment Center Nears Completion at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on the Urban League Empowerment Center, a 17-story mixed-use building at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners, the 414-000-square-foot structure will yield 170 affordable housing units, 70,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail area including a Target and a 28,000-square-foot Trader Joe’s on the ground floor. The development will serve as the home for the National Urban League and the Urban Civil Rights Experience Museum. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 126th Street to the north, 125th Street to the south, Malcolm X Boulevard to the east, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to the west.

Façade Removal Nearly Finished on One Times Square in Midtown, Manhattan

Renovation work is continuing to progresses on One Times Square, a 26-story tower at 1475 Broadway in Times Square. Designed by S9 Architecture with SLCE as the architect of record and developed by Jamestown, the $500 million project involves the gut renovation and re-cladding of the 395-foot-tall structure, along with the addition of new LED displays and viewing decks with platforms that overlook the famous crossroads. R&R Scaffolding Companies will supply the BMU and Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is located on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 43rd Street to the north, West 42nd Street to the south, Broadway to the east, and Seventh Avenue to the west.

Construction Progresses on 430 West Broadway in Soho, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on 430 West Broadway, a seven-story commercial building in the Soho Cast Iron District. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by New Soho Associates, the project was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in early 2019 and will yield office space sitting atop ground-floor retail and community facility space. Abeco Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Prince and Spring Streets.

276 Bedford Avenue Completes Construction in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is complete on 276 Bedford Avenue, a two-story commercial building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by DJLU Architects, the 15,492-square-foot structure is situated on a 2,736-square-foot lot at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 1st Street. Tri State Commercial is in charge of leasing and marketing the divisible retail space.

661 Driggs Avenue Nears Completion in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is finishing up on 661 Driggs Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Bogue Trondowski Architect, the 15,910-square-foot structure will yield ten units spread across 11,720 square feet and 5,000 square feet of retail space for two tenants on the ground floor and cellar level. Brooklyn Rose LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located by the intersection of Driggs and Metropolitan Avenues.

Excavation, Foundations Progress at 14 White Street in Tribeca, Manhattan

Excavation is progressing at 14 White Street, the site of a seven-story residential building in Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca East Historic District. Designed by NAVA and DXA Studios and developed by 14 White Street Property Owner LLC, the 30,000-square-foot structure will yield ten condominium units ranging from 1,200-square-foot two-bedroom homes to four-bedroom layouts spanning 4,000 square feet, as well as 3,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar. Central is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by White Street to the south and Sixth Avenue to the east.

Construction Tops Out at 651 Fourth Avenue in South Slope, Brooklyn
