One Times Square’s 300-Foot-Long LED Screen Nearly Completed, in Times Square

One Times Square, aka the Times Tower, is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Millions of tourists from across the country and around the world constantly take photos of Times Square, formerly called Longacre Square, and the flashing digital advertisements that run nonstop year round. Even more view it during the annual ball drop and lighting of the four numbers at the start of every year since 1904. The culturally iconic and economically famous 25-story skyscraper stands 363 feet tall and is in the midst of getting a 21st century makeover. Six giant screens that once lit the slender northern wall have been taken down and will be consolidated into one 350-foot-tall LED panel. Jamestown is the owner of the property. One Times Square can be touted as the most expensive and lucrative place on the planet to advertise.

Sales Launch at 108 Chambers Street, in Tribeca

Sales have launched at 108 Chambers Street, a ground-up condominium project in Tribeca. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects and developed by Greystone Development, the building will contain eight full-floor residences and one- to three- bedroom homes that begin at $2.95 million. Ryan Serhant of The Serhant Team is in charge of sales and marketing for the reinforced concrete structure, which is now almost completely enclosed. The site will yield about 3,451 square feet of retail space that will occupy the first two floors and around 11,300 square feet of residential space above.

COOKFOX Returns to LPC With Alterations for Armani Flagship at 760 Madison Avenue

This week, COOKFOX Architects appeared before the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission with proposals to alter previously approved designs for the new Giorgio Armani flagship boutique and residences. Located at 760 Madison Avenue on the corner of East 65th Street, the new development will rise 12 stories. The Armani boutique will occupy the lower levels of the structure with 19 residences positioned above. Alterations pertain exclusively to the exterior massing and materials of the building’s façade and were reportedly inspired by existing historic properties in the surrounding Upper East Side neighborhood.

Cantilevering One South First Tops Out Over Domino Park, in Williamsburg

Construction has topped out on One South First, formally called 260 Kent Avenue, in the Williamsburg waterfront development of Domino Park. This is the second new structure to rise from the master plan that aims to revitalize the site of the Domino Sugar factory. The reinforced concrete building now stands 435 feet high and will soon yield 330 rentals, 66 affordable units, and 150,000 square feet of office space among 22 floors, as well as 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. COOKFOX is the architect of the tower while Two Trees Management is the developer.

New Photos Revealed For Sunset Yards’ 341 39th Street, in Sunset Park

YIMBY has exclusive new photographs of the interiors and skyline views from 341 39th Street, a newly renovated commercial building in the Sunset Park development of Sunset Yards. The 200,000-square-foot mixed-use building contains ground-floor retail space, tenant amenities, and large-scale murals by Brooklyn-based artist Mike Perry, called Park Sunset. Madison Realty Capital is the developer of the site.

First Glass Panels Installed on FXCollaborative’s 77 Greenwich Street, in Financial District

The first reflective glass panels have begun going up on the southern façade of 77 Greenwich Street in the Financial District. These will eventually cover the entire 350-foot-tall residential section that sits above a 150-foot retail and grade school podium. The 42-story mixed-use skyscraper is being designed by FXCollaborative. Trinity Place Holdings is the developer, while Deborah Berke Partners is in charge of the interior design. Sales have also launched for the 90 condominium units, which will range from one- to four-bedroom homes. Pricing begins at $1.78 million for a one-bedroom residence.

1568 Broadway Begins Billboard Removal Ahead of Structural Demolition, in Times Square

Black shrouds and scaffolding have gone up over 1568 Broadway’s lower floors as crews begin the process of removing its Times Square-facing billboards and marquees. Meanwhile, workers are beginning to gut the interiors of the 470-foot-tall tower ahead of its imminent demolition. Built in 1990, the current DoubleTree hotel will eventually make way for a new 46-story DoubleTree Suites by Hilton. The proposed 550,000-square-foot development, which will be called TSX Broadway, will preserve of the 106-year-old Palace Theatre by raising it three stories up from the ground floor, making way for retail space. The $2.5 billion project is being developed by L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group. The site was previously purchased for $450 million.

KRE Group Lands $45 Million Financing for Harbor Station North in Bayonne, New Jersey

Developer Kushner Real Estate Group has successfully secured $45 million in construction financing for a new residential community in Bayonne, New Jersey. The project, which broke ground in 2018, is known as Harbor Station North and will comprise three distinct buildings. Components within include 200 rental apartments, 10,000 square feet of retail, and associated parking.

Rendering Revealed for Robert A.M. Stern-Designed 1230 Madison Avenue, in Carnegie Hill

A new rendering has been revealed for 1230 Madison Avenue, an upcoming 20-story building on the Upper East Side. Located on Carnegie Hill by the the southwestern corner of Madison Avenue and East 89th Street, the site is on the same block as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and just six blocks away from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The architectural language and style easily identifies it as the work of Robert A.M. Stern Architects.
