Seaport Residences Remains Indefinitely Stalled at 161 Maiden Lane in Financial District, Manhattan

Leading off our Turkey Week rundown of prominent stalled projects in New York City is Seaport Residences, a 60-story residential skyscraper at 161 Maiden Lane along the border of Lower Manhattan’s Financial District and the South Street Seaport District. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group, the slender 670-foot-tall tower, originally dubbed One Seaport, was planned to span 200,000 square feet and yield 80 condominium units with interiors by Groves & Co. Ray Builders was the last general contractor to work on the beleaguered project, which stands on a narrow site bound by South Street and Maiden Lane, directly across from the FDR Drive and the East River.

Two-Building Development Tops Out at 218 Front Street in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn

Construction tops out on 218 Front Street, a seven-story two-building residential complex in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by S. Wieder Architect and developed and built by Chess Builders, the ground-up project will yield 218 rental apartments with 66 affordable housing units, as well as 350 square feet of commercial space and 180 square feet of community space on the ground floor. The large interior lot is bound by Front Street to the north and York Street to the south, and was formerly occupied by a one-story industrial warehouse with an open-air lumber yard.

New Rendering Revealed For 252-260 East 72nd Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

A new rendering has been revealed for 252-260 East 72nd Street, a forthcoming 21-story residential building in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Developed by Chetrit Group, the 150,000-square-foot project will yield 54 condominium units and 5,700 square feet of retail space, along with an adjacent five-story annex containing four affordable housing units. The 14,000-square-foot plot is also addressed as 1357 Second Avenue and was formerly occupied by St. John The Martyr Church along with several old low-rise structures, and is located at the corner of Second Avenue and East 72nd Street, with a narrow panhandle that stretches south to East 71st Street.

Foundations are progressing at 201-207 Seventh Avenue, the site of a nine-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Amie Gross Architects and developed by New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development under the Chelsea HDFC, the 85-foot-tall structure will span 30,859 square feet and yield 26 affordable co-op units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 1,828 square feet of retail space divided among three tenants. A.A.D. Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 170 West 22nd Street and located at the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and West 22nd Street.

Construction is underway at 1 Putnam Avenue, the site of an eight-story mixed-use building in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by RSLN Architecture and developed by Abeco Organization, the 84-foot-tall structure will span 40,364 square feet and yield 41 rental units with an average scope of 804 square feet, as well as 7,370 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, and one enclosed parking space. Fenimore Plaza LLC is listed as the owner and Abeco Construction LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located to the north of Putnam Triangle between Grand Avenue to the east and Cambridge Place to the west.
