Permits have been filed for a 13-story mixed-use building at 531 Sixth Avenue in the Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The development will sit at the crossroads between Chelsea, the West Village, and Union Square. Stops from just about every Subway line are nearby, and Gemini Rosemont will be responsible for development.
The completion of Two Trees’ tower at 300 Ashland Place has opened several opportunities for new retail in the neighborhood, and within the new storefronts, New York City’s first Whole Foods Market 365 is expected to open on Wednesday, January 31st. The grocery store is an offshoot of its parent company, and will feature cheaper prices with competitive selections marketed towards budget-conscious families, students, and commuters. The location is officially Fort Greene, Brooklyn, but it sits very close to Downtown Brooklyn.
Demolition permits have been filed for the five-story building at 126 Madison Avenue, in Midtown South, Manhattan. The site will become a commercial extension of 15 East 30th Street, a residential high-rise. Photos show construction is moving along for the project, which will top out at 51 stories.
The prime blocks of the Upper East Side seldom see new developments, but renderings have now been revealed for the H.T.O. Architect-designed 27 East 79th Street. The project is the first new building to rise on its block in nearly forty years. The architect teamed up with the Parisian firm, Cabinet Albero Pinto, to create a structure fit for the neighborhood.
Renderings have been revealed for 1 Park Row, a new building rising in Manhattan’s Financial District, right across the street from City Hall Park. Permits filed in mid-October showed specifications for three floors of retail space, yielding a total 21,500 square feet. The project joins two others on the same block, at 1 Beekman Street and 23 Park Row.
