Sven’s Concave Curtain Wall Nears the 762-Foot-Tall Parapet in Long Island City, Queens

Curtain wall installation is nearing the parapet of Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, a 762-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 29-37 41st Avenue in Long Island City. Exterior work on the 67-story tower, which is the second-tallest structure in Queens, has been moving swiftly since its topping out in late June. The 978,000-square-foot project is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed by The Durst Organization, with Selldorf Architects as the interior designer. Hunter Roberts is the general contractor and Jaros, Baum & Bolles Engineering is handling the required mechanical systems for the edifice. The developers are aiming for LEED certification.

21-59 44th Drive’s Curtain Wall Progresses in Long Island City, Queens

Construction is progressing behind scaffolding at 21-59 44th Drive, a six-story residential building designed by Z Architecture in Long Island City, Queens. The reinforced concrete edifice is located at the northern corner of 44th Drive and 23rd Street and is slated to yield a total of 20 units, 2,600 square feet of retail space, and 361 square feet of community facilities.

The Kent House Opens for Occupancy at 187 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is complete and tenants have begun moving into The Kent House, a seven-story mixed-use building at 187 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located between North 3rd Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue, the project is designed by Diego Aguilera Architects P.C. and developed by CW Realty Management, which purchased the site for $43 million. The 140,036-square-foot structure contains 96 homes.

The Dime Nears Completion at 209 Havemeyer Street in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is nearing completion on The Dime, a 22-story mixed-use building at 209 Havemeyer Street in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Alternately addressed as 275 South 5th Street, the structure is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and is being developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Holdings. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is handling all leasing for the 177 rental units, which launched in May. Grain Collective is the landscape architect and 1 Oak Contracting is the general contractor for the project.

Two-Tower Greenpoint Landing Project Begins Ascent at 221 West Street in Brooklyn

Construction is above street level at 221 West Street, a pair of 30- and 40-story residential towers in the Greenpoint Landing development in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Known as “Greenpoint Block D,” this phase of the the 22-acre riverfront master plan is designed by OMA and is being developed by Brookfield Property Partners and Park Tower Group, which broke ground on the site back in November 2019. Beyer Blinder Belle is the architect of record for the planned 350- and 451 -foot tall towers.

One South First Reaches Full Completion in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is now fully complete at One South First, aka Ten Grand Street, a 435-foot-tall mixed-use residential building in the Domino Park waterfront development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Formally addressed as 260 Kent Avenue, the 45-story structure sits on the northern end of the six-acre master plan along the East River. Part of the revitalization of the Domino Sugar Factory site, the project is designed by COOKFOX and developed by Two Trees and yields a total of 330 rentals, 66 affordable units, 150,000 square feet of office space spanning 18 floors, and 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Construction Wrapping Up on 200 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Exterior work is wrapping up on 200 Kent Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by ME Architect P.C., the 125,000-square-foot development stands 83 feet tall and is being developed by Cornell Realty Management, which purchased the full-block parcel for $33 million with two anonymous entities nearly four years ago. The site is bound by Kent Avenue to the east, Metropolitan Avenue to the south, River Street to the west, and North 3rd Street to the north.

308 Livingston Street’s Superstructure Progresses In Downtown Brooklyn

Construction is progressing on 308 Livingston Street, a 23-story, 160-unit rental building in Downtown Brooklyn. The project is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and is being developed by Lonicera Partners, which purchased the lot in May 2019 for $11 million and demolished several low-rise structures to clear the way for the project.

Supertall Plans for 343 Madison Avenue Reveal New 55-Story and 1,050-Foot-Tall Office Tower, in Midtown East

Plans for 343 Madison Avenue in Midtown East unveil the substantial size and scope of the supertall to take the place of the former Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) headquarters. Boston Properties is developing the project that would comprise 925,630 square feet and rise 1,050 feet tall, with Class A office space above ground-floor retail. The building would yield 5,357 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, 832,613 square feet of commercial office space above, and 84,593 square feet of dedicated mechanical space. The tower would sit on a podium 301 feet tall.
