Tax Breaks Approved For One Journal Square’s 56-Story, 744-Unit Mixed-Use Tower, Jersey City

Officially proposed last summer, New Jersey’s Economic Development Authority has approved $93 million in tax breaks for Kushner Companies and KABR Group’s planned 56-story, 744-unit mixed-use tower at One Journal Square, in Jersey City’s Journal Square district. According to the Jersey Journal, WeWork is expected to lease 101,000 square feet of office space on seven floors, and 78,000 square feet of retail space is planned on the bottom two levels. A second tower is also reportedly in the works, although completion of the first is expected in the spring of 2018.

33-Story Mixed-Use Hotel And Condo Tower Rises At 16 West 40th Street, Midtown

Back in September, the latest renderings were revealed of HFZ Capital Group’s 33-story mixed-use hotel and residential building planned at 12-20 West 40th Street, along Bryant Park in Midtown, and now Tectonic has the latest photos of its construction. The structure is currently six stories above street level and features a slight setback past the fifth floor. The first five floors are flush with the existing street wall. Upon completion in early 2017, The Bryant (not to be confused with the Bryant Park Hotel) will have 230 hotel rooms and 57 condos, as well as retail space and a restaurant on the ground floor. David Chipperfield is the design architect.

40-Story, 554-Unit Residential Tower Rising At 2 North 6th Place, Williamsburg

Near the end of 2013, Brownstoner reported on applications for Douglaston Development’s 40-story, 554-unit residential tower at 2 North 6th Place, on Williamsburg’s northern stretch of East River waterfront, and now photos by Tectonic show the building under construction. It appears to be 11 stories above street level. Based on a rendering from J&A Concrete, the base is close to being structurally complete. A small 678 square-foot retail unit is planned on the ground floor and units will average 925 square feet apiece. Stephen B. Jacobs Group is designing and completion is expected in 2017.
