Construction Begins On Staten Island’s 630-Foot New York Wheel, St. George

Fencing is up around the site of Staten Island’s planned New York Wheel, in St. George, and it appears construction is now in full motion, per the Staten Island Advance. In 2014, YIMBY brought you renderings of the 630-foot-tall Ferris wheel, which ‘New York Wheel LLC’ is developing and Starneth BV is designing (with Perkins Eastman). Completion is expected in the first half of 2017, alongside the Empire Outlets, also in St. George.

1580 Nostrand Avenue Hits Market, Site Of Hello Living’s Planned 23-Story Ziggurat, Flatbush

Last summer, YIMBY reported on applications for a 23-story, 153-unit mixed-use building at 1580 Nostrand Avenue, in Flatbush, and then we revealed renderings of the project this past March. But developer Hello Living has now placed the site on the market for $28 million, according to the Daily News. The 173,546 square-foot structure has been approved by the DOB, and the site’s former single-story warehouse was demolished earlier this year.

Three Stories, Six Residential Units Planned At 77-06 45th Avenue, Elmhurst

Applications have been filed for three three-story residential buildings spanning the lots 77-06 – 77-10 45th Avenue, in northern Elmhurst, five blocks west of the M/R subway station at Elmhurst Avenue. The residential development will contain six units and measure 4,975 square feet in total for an average units of 830 square feet. Chang Hwa Tan is the architect of record, and two existing residential structures must first be demolished.

Urban View Realty has filed applications for a five-story, five-unit residential building at 129 Stockholm Street, in norther Bushwick, two blocks from the M train’s Central Avenue stop. The building will measure 5,000 square feet and will feature a fifth floor penthouse, with units averaging 1,000 square feet. Woody Chen’s Infocus Design & Planning is the applicant of record, and an existing 1.5-story home must first be demolished.
