Demolition is moving along on JP Morgan Chase‘s 52-story headquarters at 270 Park Avenue. Formerly referred to as the Union Carbide Building, the financial company is in the midst of razing the 707-foot-tall mid-century skyscraper in order to make way for a 1,425-foot-tall, 2.5-million-square-foot supertall, which will be one of the tallest structures in New York City.
Curtain wall installation is progressing on Hillrose 28, a 20-story residential building at 157-161 East 28th Street in Kips Bay. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Forkosh Development, the 191-foot-tall structure spans 66,125 square feet and will contain 43 units designed by Lemay + Escobar and marketed by Corcoran Sunshine.
Construction has topped out at 1325 Jerome Avenue, a new affordable housing project in the Mount Eden section of The Bronx. The development is the latest endeavor from The Doe Fund and was completed in collaboration by the GF55 design studio.
Permits have been filed for a 13-story hotel building at 62 Mulberry Street in Chinatown, Manhattan. Located between Mosco Street and Bayard Street, the interior lot faces Columbus Park. It is a five-minute walk northwest to the Canal Street subway station, serviced by the J and Z trains. McSam Hotel Group under the Chinatown Hotel LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
A large consortium of non-profit and private developers has revealed extensive proposals to construct two new affordable housing buildings on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. If the proposals and required zoning amendments are approved, the new structures would break ground at 151-165 Broome Street within an existing mixed-use complex referred to as Seward Park Extension.
