Proposal for Terminal Warehouse Renovations Returns to the Landmarks Preservation Commission

COOKFOX will again present proposals to the city’s Landmark Preservation Commission to facilitate a transformative renovation of Terminal Warehouse in West Chelsea, Manhattan. The former warehouse building occupies an entire city block spanning Eleventh to Twelfth Avenues and 27th to 28th Streets. When renovations are complete, the property will debut as Central Stores, a mixed-use complex.

Rendering Revealed for 1100 Avenue of the Americas’ Glass Recladding, in Midtown

Preparations are underway for the glass recladding of 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story office building located across from Bryant Park at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue. Brookfield Properties is the current developer of the 386,190-square-foot structure, whose renovations include the replacement of its old reflective glass façade with a lighter, more transparent curtain wall on all sides. MdeAS Architects is the designer of the new envelope and the featured rendering. Once reopened, the structure will yield 357,940 square feet of commercial office space in addition to 11,239 square feet of ground-floor retail area. Aecom Tishman is the general contractor.

GreenbergFarrow’s 12-Story Development at 646 Eleventh Avenue Passes Halfway Mark in Hell’s Kitchen

Construction has passed the halfway point on 646 Eleventh Avenue, a full-block, mixed-use residential development in Hell’s Kitchen. GreenbergFarrow is the designer of the 12-story structure, which will feature an auto dealership and 40,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, 222 units spread over 161,000 square feet, 60 for-sale storage units, and will aim for LEED certification. Ironstate Development, CB Developers, and SK Development Group are the developers of the 30,000-square-foot property and purchased the lot for $93 million in the summer of 2018. The site, which is located between West 47th Street and West 48th Street, was once a two-story Lexus auto dealership.
