Scaffolding Covers 137 Varick Street in Preparation for Disney’s Future Headquarters in Hudson Square

A large amount of scaffolding has been set up over the brick and stone walls of 137 Varick Street in Hudson Square in preparation for the building’s demolition. The site is one of several structures that will be cleared to make way for The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters, which will be addressed Four Hudson Square and reportedly consist of a pair of 19-story buildings. Skidmore Owings & Merrill is the designer of the project and Skanska is in charge of the on-site construction activity.

Large Mixed-Use Building Proposed for 44 Broad Street in Port Chester, White Plains

Proposals for a 179-foot-tall development at 44 Broad Street in Port Chester, White Plains would require a new zoning district defined by building height versus stories. Located between Irving Avenue and King Street, the 17-story, mixed-use building would sit on a nine-parcel lot adjacent to Port Chester’s Metro-North Railroad station. Although the Port Chester village board of trustees is reviewing zoning codes for the area, developer Broad Street Owner LLC is petitioning for an immediate change to get the transit-oriented project underway. The high-rise development would comprise 407,000 square feet with 286 apartments, 12,600 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and 267 parking spaces.

Exterior Work Nearing Completion for Morris Adjmi’s 30 East 31st Street, in NoMad

30 East 31st Street’s exterior work is inching closer to completion, as installation of the light-colored panels in between the windows on the bottom of the northern elevation is now underway. Located in NoMad between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue, the 479-foot-tall residential tower is topped-out at 40 stories, and the crossed beams at the top of the podium will soon be encased with the newly arrived panels. The 88,000-square-foot project is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Ekstein Development and Pinnacle Real Estate. Douglas Elliman Development is marketing the building’s 42 units, which will be spread across 70,070 square feet for an average of 1,700 square feet apiece. Prices will range from $1.65 to $12 million.
