Brooklyn Tower’s Façade Nears Completion at 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is getting closer to completion on The Brooklyn Tower, a 93-story residential supertall at 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development, the 1,066-foot skyscraper stands as the tallest structure in the outer boroughs and will yield 550 residences, with 150 condominiums, 280 market-rate rentals, and 120 affordable rentals, as well as a 100,000-square-foot retail podium that incorporates the renovated landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn. Gachot Studios is in charge of residential interior design, Krista Ninivaggi of Woods Bagot is handling amenity design, HMWhite is the landscape designer, R&R Scaffolding supplied the BMU, and Douglas Elliman Development Marketing Group is the exclusive marketing, sales, and leasing agent for the property, which is bound by Flatbush Avenue Extension to the northeast, Fleet Street to the northwest, DeKalb Avenue to the south, and the adjoining Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn to the west.

Demolition is progressing at 22-09 Queens Plaza North, the site of a three-story industrial building in Long Island City, Queens. Developed by Criterion Group, which paid nearly $80 million for the site in 2019, the 65-foot-tall structure will yield 170,000 square feet of film studio and office space. The property occupies a full-block parcel bound by 41st Avenue to the northeast, 22nd Street to the northwest, 23rd Street to the southeast, and Queens Plaza North to the southwest. Construction was last estimated to cost $25.5 million.

Excavation is progressing at 125 West 57th Street, the site of a 30-story commercial building on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy Properties and ABR Partners, the $350 million project will yield 185,000 square feet of offices and ground-floor space for the Calvary Baptist Church. Leading Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, near supertalls One57 and 111 West 57th Street.
