Renderings Revealed for The Shoreline at 2230 Cropsey Avenue in Bath Beach, Brooklyn

New renderings have been unveiled for The Shoreline, a 31-story residential building at 2230 Cropsey Avenue in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. Developed by Cropsey Partners LLC and designed by Hill West Architects with interiors by Whitehall Interiors, the waterfront tower is nearing completion and will yield 248 market-rate residences with Corcoran New Development handling marketing and leasing. Move-ins are scheduled to begin in January 2024.

125 West 57th Street’s Glass Façade Begins Installation in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Cain International, the 440-foot-tall structure will span 260,000 square feet and yield 185,000 square feet of Class A office space, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and a new home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883 and sold the property to the developers for $150 million in 2017. Leading Builders Group is the general contractor for the project, which is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc‘s One57 and SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street.

Fulton Residences Completes Construction at 1079 Fulton Street in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

Construction is complete on The Fulton Residence, a seven-story residential building at 1079 Fulton Street in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Developed by New Start Development, which purchased the property for $10.25 million, the project involved the conversion of a vacant homeless shelter into a rental apartment building spanning 26,000 square feet and yielding 30 units in studio- to two-bedroom layouts with an average scope of 867 square feet. Mabe Group, Inc. served as the general contractor for the development, which is located at the corner of Fulton Street and Classon Avenue.

East Midtown Greenway Opens along East River Waterfront in Midtown, Manhattan

Sustainable design and engineering firm Stantec recently celebrated the grand opening of the East Midtown Greenway in Midtown East, Manhattan. Constructed by Skanska, the esplanade is the second of three sections of the East Midtown Waterfront Project and adds nearly 2,000 linear feet of bikeways and walking paths to the East River waterfront.

Permits Filed for 819 Bedford Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed to expand a one-story structure into a five-story mixed-use building at 819 Bedford Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Located between Park Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, the lot is near the Classon Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train. Zalmen Lebovitc is listed as the owner behind the applications.

JPMorgan Chase’s Supertall Nears its Pinnacle at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

The tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners with Adamsom Associates as the architect of record and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the full-block property, which is bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

Demolition Finishes at 620 Twelfth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Demolition has concluded at 620 Twelfth Avenue, the site of a six-story storage and office facility in Hells Kitchen. Owned by Edison Properties and leased to Verizon Communications for $50 million, the structure will span 269,000 square feet and include a cellar level, which may feature on-site parking for the network operator. Nordest Services served as the demolition contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 648 West 48th Street and is bound by West 47th and West 48th Streets and the Hudson River Greenway.

Winchester Green Breaks Ground at 315 Winchester Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut

Winchester Partners, a collaboration between Twining Properties and LMXD, has announced the commencement of construction for Winchester Green, a two-tower development at 315 Winchester Avenue in New Haven‘s Science Park. The $90 million project aims to turn an underutilized parking lot into a mixed-use and mixed-income community space, expected to open in early 2026.

Foundation Work Progresses for 740 Eighth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

At number two on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 740 Eighth Avenue, a 1,067-foot mixed-use supertall skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell, the 52-story structure will span 776,000 square feet with an 825-room hotel on the lower half and a public observatory with a drop ride attraction above. The property will also feature lower-level retail space, a restaurant on two of the upper floors, and a pool deck for hotel guests. Lendlease is the general contractor, WSP is the structural engineer, and Ancora Engineering is handling excavation and foundations for the project, which is located along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.
