Permits Filed: 917 Westchester Avenue & 940 Rogers Place, Longwood Affordable Housing in the Bronx

Affordable housing may grow on two empty lots near the elevated subway tracks in Longwood, a neighborhood in the southeastern Bronx. Plans were filed yesterday to erect a seven-story apartment building at 917 Westchester Avenue and a six-story one at 940 Rogers Place, around the corner from the Intervale Avenue stop on the 2 and 5 trains.

Reveal For Two-Story Retail Building At 159 Ludlow Street, Lower East Side

Late last summer, YIMBY reported on applications for a two-story, 2,126 square-foot retail building at 159 Ludlow Street, on the Lower East Side, and now Bowery Boogie has the project’s reveal, which will take the form of a glassy structure. Hesky Haim and Continental Worsteds are the developers, and DXA Studio is designing the project, which it calls the ‘glass box’. The building appears to include some form of rooftop garden, and will be available as event space. The lot is currently vacant and construction is expected to begin in 2016.

Commercial-Retail Conversion Planned For 4.5-Story Property At 11 Bond Street, NoHo

Aby Rosen’s RFR Realty has filed applications to convert and expand the 4.5-story building at 11 Bond Street, in NoHo, into a commercial property fit for a single retail tenant, according to Bowery Boogie. The 16,410 square-foot building, which also goes by 348 Lafayette Street, is currently a women’s shelter operated by the Center of Urban Community Services. Annabelle Selldorf is designing the project, which would require approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Aby Rosen acquired the property for $26 million over the summer.
