Developed by Long Island-based Arker Companies, which purchased the site for $10 million following a competitive request for proposal process facilitated by the Empire State Development Corporation, the development yields 1,163 affordable homes, commercial space, and a new public plaza.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 546 Saratoga Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Located between Pitkin and Sutter Avenues, the interior 4,000-square-foot lot is three blocks north of the Saratoga Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, and 4 trains. Fazle Abbas Devjiyani is listed as the owner behind the applications.
There are affordable housing lottery units available at 22-22 Steinway Street, a four-story residential building in Astoria, Queens. Designed by NDKazalas Architecture, the structure yields 13 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are three units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $66,858 to $139,620.
Exterior work is nearing completion on 141 East Houston Street, a ten-story mixed-use building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Roger Ferris + Partners for East End Capital and K Property Group, the 68,000-square-foot structure will yield offices and retail space on the ground floor and two cellar levels. CM & Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Forsyth Street to the west and Eldridge Street to the east on a plot formerly occupied by the Sunshine Cinema.
Type A Real Estate Advisors and JASA recently completed a new affordable housing development at 1490 Southern Boulevard in The Bronx. The 100-percent affordable project is located in the borough’s Charlotte Gardens neighborhood and comprises 114 units for households making up to 50 percent area median income (AMI). Thirty percent of the units will be set aside formerly homeless older adults.
