80 Flatbush Redesigned and Approved, Tallest Tower Scaled Back to 840′

The City Council has unanimously approved the controversial 80 Flatbush project in Boerum Hill after a reduction in size and scale. While the drop in density is not ideal, the the buildings will still be a large player for the housing market and community at large, and will punctuate the neighborhood’s skyline with two new towers that appear both prominent and promising in terms of design.

Virgin Hotel Gets Glassy at 1225 Broadway, Nearly Two-Thirds Of The Way to Topping-Out

Construction on the Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has reached yet another milestone. Since we last checked in May, the building has more than doubled in height, and is nearly two-thirds of the way to topping out 38 floors above street level. The project is being developed by the Lam Group and is part of a larger trend of new hotel towers in the NoMad area near the Empire State Building.

Permits Filed for 26-Story Tower at 30 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a 26-story mixed-use building at 30 Front Street, a parking lot for the Jehovah Witnesses Watchtower building in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The lot was the last significant piece of property that the organization had to sell, a process started in 2011 following a decision to move upstate to Warwick, New York. Fortis Property Group is behind the applications.
