One High Line’s Public Plaza Takes Shape at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on the lower levels of One High Line, a pair of twisting structures at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group and Access Industries, the 36- and 26-story structures will span 900,000 square feet and yield 236 condominium units in one- to five-bedroom layouts, as well as a hotel component operated by Faena Hotel, ground-floor retail space, and a new plaza separately designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Field Operations. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor, Enea Landscape Architecture is the landscape architect, and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the property, which is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and stands adjacent to the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.

Located at the northwest corner of Cadman Plaza West and Montague Street, the lot is steps from the Borough Hall subway station, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains and the Court Street station, serviced by the R train. Jonathan Landau of Landau Development Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Housing Lottery Launches for 33 Franklin Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 33 Franklin Street, a seven-story mixed-use building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by StudiosC and developed by Yidel Hirsch, the structure yields 80 residences, ground-floor retail, and a garage with 32 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 24 units for residents at 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $55,680 to $165,230.

ODA’s 126 East 57th Street Climbs Above Podium Levels in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction continues to rise on 126 East 57th Street, a 28-story residential tower on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by ODA Architecture and developed by MRR Development under the MRR 1326 LLC, the 346-foot-tall structure will yield 147 condominium units with an average scope of 1,156 square feet, as well as 5,000 square feet of lower-level retail space. WSP USA is the engineer and Plaza Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue, with a narrow panhandle extension to East 57th Street.

50 Ninth Avenue Nears Completion in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 50 Ninth Avenue, a nine-story commercial renovation and expansion on the border of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital with Fogarty Finger responsible for all interiors and the storefront, the project involves the restoration of a row of low-rise landmarked townhomes and the construction of a modern volume above, and will yield 57,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of flexible retail space. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 14th Street.

14 White Street Rises Above Street Level in Tribeca, Manhattan

Designed by DXA Studio and developed by 14 White Street Property Owner LLC, the 30,000-square-foot structure will yield ten condominium units ranging from 1,200-square-foot two-bedroom homes to four-bedroom layouts spanning 4,000 square feet, as well as 3,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar. NAVA is the interior designer and Central is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by White Street to the south and Sixth Avenue to the east.

501 Ninth Avenue Rises Above Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 501 Ninth Avenue, a 12-story residential building in Midtown, Manhattan on the border of Hudson Yards and the Garment District. Designed by Archimaera Architecture and developed by ZD Jasper Realty under the ZDJ Hudson Yards LLC, the structure is being constructed alongside its 120-foot-tall identical counterpart at 489 Ninth Avenue at the southern end of the parcel. The two buildings will collectively span 220,000 square feet and yield 174 condominium units with an average scope of 970 square feet, as well as ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. Warner Construction Services Inc. is the general contractor for both properties, which are bound by West 38th Street to the north, West 37th Street to the south, Ninth Avenue to the east, and Dyer Avenue to the west.

Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by Taconic Investment Partners and Nuveen Real Estate, the 430,763-square-foot structure will yield offices, a public grade school, and retail space. Trinity Real Estate is the owner of the vacant lot, which is alternately addressed as Two Hudson Square and bound by Grand Street to the north, Canal Street to the south, Varick Street to the west, and Sullivan Street, Duarte Square, and Sixth Avenue to the east.

7 Platt Street Rises Above Street Level in Financial District, Manhattan

Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by The Moinian Group, the 464-foot-tall structure will span 267,760 square feet and yield 250 rental apartments with interiors by Fogarty Finger, as well as 43,740 square feet of retail space on the first five stories and 34 below-grade parking spaces. Titanium Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 110 John Street and located on an interior lot bound by John Street to the north and Platt Street to the south.
