Four-Story, 64-Unit Mixed-Use Affordable Project Beaks Ground At 455 Ocean Avenue, Jersey City

A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the four-story, 64-unit mixed-use building planned at 455 Ocean Avenue, located on the corner of Dwight Street, in Jersey City’s Greenville section. The project, dubbed Dr. Lane Frances Edwards Apartments, will boast ground-floor commercial retail space and a mix of supportive and affordable rental apartments. There will be five units set aside for homeless veterans, while the other 59, comprised of one-, two- and three-bedrooms, will rent at below-market rates to families of a limited income, the Jersey Journal reported. The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (JCRA) is the developer and Kitchen & Associates is behind the design.

62-Story, 426-Unit Mixed-Use Tower Rises Above Street Level At 242 West 53rd Street, Midtown

Construction is two stories above street level on a 62-story, 426-unit mixed-use tower under development at 242 West 53rd Street, in Midtown. Work is underway on the base of the building, as seen in photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 542,276 square feet and rise 674 feet to its roof, not including the bulkhead and other mechanical equipment. There will be 16,514 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The residential units above should average 1,024 square feet apiece, although it’s unclear whether they will be condominiums or rentals. Algin Management is the developer and CetraRuddy is behind the architecture. Completion is expected in 2018.

12-Story, 16-Unit Mixed-Use Project Tops Out At 1 Great Jones Alley, NoHo

Construction has topped out on the 12-story, 16-unit mixed-use building under development at 1 Great Jones Alley, which also goes by 688 Broadway, in NoHo. A photo of the structure has been posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 60,854 square feet and rise 154 feet above street level to its pinnacle. There will be 3,838 square feet of retail space across the ground and cellar levels, followed by condominiums from the second through 12th floors. The apartments should average a spacious 2,930 square feet apiece. Madison Realty Capital is the developer and BKSK Architects is behind the design. HMWhite is the landscape architect and completion is expected in the first half of 2017.
