Davis Brody Bond‘s 21-story tech hub known as Zero Irving is rising quickly at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square. Formerly named the Union Square Tech Training Center, the project is being developed by RAL Development and Suffolk Construction and will yield 254,000 square feet with affordable and market-rate office space for tech companies, retail, and dining facilities managed by Urbanspace.
Permits have been filed for a 13-story mixed-use building at 1636 Flatbush Avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn. Located at the intersection of Aurelia Court and Flatbush Avenue, the corner lot is a short walk to the Flatbush Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Also nearby is the Brooklyn Triangle commercial retail building and Brooklyn College. Solomon Feder under the 1640 Flatbush OZ Owner LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications. Previously SL Green Realty filed plans for a mixed-use development of similar size.
Permits have been filed for a four-story mixed-use building at 116-01 101st Avenue in South Richmond Hill, Queens. Located between 116th Street and 117th Street, the interior lot is four blocks from the Lefferts Boulevard subway station, serviced by the A train. Tara Singh under the SP 116th Realty Inc. is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Demolition is finished and excavation work is now in full swing for Disney’s new 1.2-million-square-foot headquarters at 137 Varick Street, aka Four Hudson Square. Since YIMBY’s last update in late February, the final remaining building at 304 Hudson Street has been cleared from the property, which Disney purchased from Trinity Church Real Estate for $650 million. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed in partnership with Silverstein Properties, the upcoming 22-story building will eventually top out at 320 feet tall. Skanska oversaw the demolition process for the Hudson Square complex, which involved the razing of four structures.
The earth-toned brick masonry facade and grid of large square and narrow windows that make up the main southern elevation of 11-19 Jane Street is now complete, while work on the interiors should likely be wrapping up. Located in the Manhattan neighborhood of the West Village, the topped-out mixed-use residential and commercial project will soon debut as a 31,000-square-foot structure designed by London-based design firm David Chipperfield Architects, and developed by Edward Minskoff of Minskoff Equities. There will be a total of seven residential units inside, averaging 2,382 square feet each. The site is located between Greenwich Avenue and Eighth Avenue and is one street below Jackson Square Park.
