Full demolition permits have been filed for three buildings, a four-story and two five-story structures at 1209-1213 First Avenue in Lenox Hill, Manhattan. The mixed commercial and residential buildings are part of an assembled 13,000-square-foot lot, owned by Kamran Hakim under the 1205-1215 First Avenue Annex, with a total of 138 residential units and 15 commercial units. It is unclear what plans are in store, as no new construction permits have been filed yet. Peter Tauberer, PE is listed as the applicant of record for all three permits.

Renderings Revealed for 70-Story Avalon Tower at 444 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City

Renderings have been revealed of Avalon Tower, a 70-story skyscraper that will be one of the tallest structures to rise in Jersey City and all of the state. Approved last month, the 950-unit building will be located at 444 Washington Boulevard near the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. The developer, known as Tower Cove Jersey City Urban Renewal, plans to build the tower on the northwest corner of the site, which is currently occupied by a parking lot. Part of the project includes public spaces called the East Coast Greenway Plaza and Overlook Plaza along Thomas Gangemi Drive that will offer Manhattan skyline views, a pedestrian terrace, a children’s play area, and a dog run.

Demolition at 80 Flatbush Avenue Continues in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Architectural photographer Tectonic recently checked in on the progress at 80 Flatbush Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Demolition is underway to clear the site for the construction of a multi-structure development that will include one of the borough’s tallest skyscrapers. A large assembly of scaffolding and black netting shrouds what remains of the original brick structure that is being dismantled floor by floor. Last year the City Council approved the project, which had a reduction in size and scale and a redesign of the largest tower. Alloy Development is the developer of the complex, which is located on a triangular plot bound by Flatbush Avenue, State Street, Third Avenue, and a small sliver of Schermerhorn Street.

The latter once supported a small ground-floor gallery along Greenwich Avenue and residential area positioned on the second and third floors of the property.
