The prime blocks of the Upper East Side seldom see new developments, but renderings have now been revealed for the H.T.O. Architect-designed 27 East 79th Street. The project is the first new building to rise on its block in nearly forty years. The architect teamed up with the Parisian firm, Cabinet Albero Pinto, to create a structure fit for the neighborhood.
Permits have been filed for a three-story mixed-use building at 104 Kenilworth Place, in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The project will rise two blocks away from the Flatbush Avenue Subway Station, the end of the line for the 2 and 5 trains, and three blocks away from the Brooklyn College campus. Y & G Realty NY will be responsible for the development.
Permits have been filed for two conjoined mixed-use projects, both three stories, in Prince’s Bay, Staten Island. 29 and 31 Herbert Street will replace a parking lot two blocks away from the Prince’s Bay station, serviced by the Staten Island Railway. The SI-based Masucci Real Estate Trust will be responsible for the development.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a revised design by Todd Zwigard Architects for the Hamilton Theater, at 3560 Broadway, in Harlem. YIMBY first saw renderings for the project on Halloween of this year. The site will be repurposed for commercial-retail and office space within the neo-Renaissance theater, with the hope of revitalizing its prominence in the neighborhood.
SHoP Architects has submitted applications for a major new project at 1508 Coney Island Avenue, in Midwood, Brooklyn. The 10-story mixed-use high-rise will be situated on the major commercial thoroughfare of the area. Eight blocks away is the Avenue M Subway Station, serviced by the Q trains. It should be noted that the project is not close the Coney Island beach boardwalk, which is over four miles away.
