When the city rezoned Williamsburg in 2004, it hoped to encourage truly mixed-use buildings that knitted together apartments, office space, and light industrial businesses. Few developers have taken advantage of the commercial part of the zoning, instead choosing to squeeze as many apartments as possible onto a lot. Chelsea-based developer and architecture firm Flank decided to take a different path for their project at 60 South 2nd Street, where three quarters of the building will be devoted to office space.
Two years ago, real estate investment firm Cape Advisors paid $78 million for a collection of warehouses on Charlton and Greenwich Streets, in the recently rezoned swath of western Soho known as Hudson Square. Now they’ve filed applications to erect a 27-story residential building there at 110 Charlton Street.
Foundation work is now underway on the 21-story, 71-unit mixed-use building under development at 145 Madison Avenue, located between East 31st and 32nd streets in Midtown South. This update comes thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 69,268 square feet and rise 210 feet to its roof, not including the bulkhead.
A little over a year ago, YIMBY revealed a seven-story condo project planned for 952 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side. Now, we have a construction update on the development, which topped out a few months ago at the corner of 107th Street.
Renderings have been revealed of the 20-story, 74-unit mixed-use building under development at 591 Third Avenue, located between East 38th and 39th streets in Murray Hill. The latest building permits indicate the project, dubbed The Lindley, will encompass 96,166 square feet and rise 213 feet to its roof, not including the bulkhead.
