Landmarks Approves Conversion of Former Ridgewood Masonic Temple

The former Ridgewood Lodge No. 710, Free and Accepted Masons, better known as the Ridgewood Masonic Temple in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is one step closer to a rebirth. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved plans to modify the building at 1052 Bushwick Avenue (a.k.a. 1054 Bushwick Avenue), designated an individual landmark on July 22, 2014, for residential use.

Eight-Story Vernon Tower On Astoria Waterfront Rises To Second Level

The residential building at 31-43 Vernon Boulevard, on the East River waterfront in Queens, has risen to its second level. The project, known as Vernon Tower, is designed by PACS Architecture and developed by Michael Heletz of Vernon Tower LLC. The grey and white, panel-clad building will rise directly from the sidewalk to the pinnacle, with two-story setbacks at the corners. 1,409 square feet of retail will activate the ground level facing Vernon Boulevard.

Seven-Story, Five-Unit Residential Building Filed At 650 East 6th Street, East Village

Property owner Terry Martinolle, doing business as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a seven-story, five-unit residential building at 650 East 6th Street, located in the Alphabet City section of the East Village. The 8,491-square-foot project will include 7,761 square feet of residential space, which means units will average 1,552 square feet apiece, indicative of condominiums. A duplex apartment will occupy part of the ground floor and the entire second floor, the third through fifth floors will have one unit on each level, and a duplex unit will span the sixth floor and seventh-floor penthouse. Brooklyn-based RSVP Architecture Studio will be responsible for the design. An existing four-story, three-unit building must first be demolished.
