Renderings of the final design have been revealed for New York University’s 23-story mixed-use building planned at 181 Mercer Street, located between West Houston and Bleecker streets in Greenwich Village. The academic facility, as YIMBY reported in October, will encompass 914,064 square feet and rise 275 feet in height, per the latest building applications, which the Buildings Department has not yet approved. Design firms KieranTimberlake and Davis Brody Bond are the architects.
Another one of Bushwick’s empty lots is becoming a new apartment building. YIMBY has the first look at the project at 16 Charles Place, a dead-end block off Myrtle Avenue that’s covered in murals.
UA Builders Group has filed applications for a seven-story, 26-unit mixed-use building at 1081 Tiffany Street, in the Longwood section of the South Bronx. The new building will encompass 20,905 square feet and include a 307-square-foot medical office on the ground floor. The residential units, located across the second through seventh floors, should average 657 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. There will also be eight off-street parking spaces, five of which will be housed on the ground floor. Mohammad R. Badaly’s Mount Vernon, N.Y.-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 64-foot-wide, 4,582-square-foot site is vacant.
An anonymous Elmhurst-based LLC has filed applications for a three-story, seven-unit residential building at 59-24 41st Avenue, in Woodside. The project will measure 7,200 square feet and its residential units should average 917 square feet apiece. That means either rentals or condominiums could be in the works. There will be five off-street parking spaces behind the building, plus laundry facilities in the cellar. Chang Hwa Tan’s Flushing-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 50-foot-wide, 4,756-square-foot lot is occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits have not been filed.
Construction is now four stories above street level on the 71-story, 354-unit mixed-use building under development at 35 Hudson Yards, located on the corner of Eleventh Avenue and West 33rd Street in Hudson Yards district. Progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the 1,009-foot-tall tower will encompass 1,046,332 square feet.
