New Renderings Of 24-Story, 48-Unit Condo Conversion At 212 Fifth Avenue, NoMad

Early last month, the residential conversion of the 24-story commercial building at 212 Fifth Avenue, in NoMad, was underway, and now Curbed has uncovered new exterior and interior renderings of the project. Forty-eight condominiums are being carved out of the existing structure, and the units will be large, with some measuring 1,500 square feet, and larger configurations measuring north of 4,000 square feet. Madison Equities and Thor Equities are developing, while Helpern Architects is designing. Sales have already launched, and completion is expected next spring.

Four-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Building Filed At 869 East 175th Street, Tremont

Property owner Yair Bohadana has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential building at 869 East 175th Street, in Tremont, three blocks from the 174th Street stop on the 2 and 5 trains. The building will measure 7,000 square feet, and units will average 875 square feet. Queens-based Gerald Caliendo is the architect of record, and the lot is currently vacant.

Four-Story, Seven-Unit Residential Building Coming To 462 Madison Street, Bed-Stuy

Infinity Properties has filed applications for a four-story, seven-unit residential building at 462 Madison Street, in central Bedford-Stuyvesant, located eight blocks north of the C train’s Throop Avenue stop. The building will measure 4,984 square feet, and units will average 712 square feet. The prolific Gerald Caliendo, based in Queens, is the architect of record, and the lot is currently vacant.

10-Story, 18-Unit Residential Project Planned At 1771 Weeks Avenue, Mount Hope

Lorenzo De Vardo, operating under an LLC, has filed applications for a 10-story, 18-unit residential building at 1771 Weeks Avenue, in Mount Hope, two blocks east of the B and D trains’ stop at 175th Street and Grand Concourse. The building will measure 19,512 square feet, boasting relatively large average units of 1,084 square feet apiece. Reza Khamcy’s Great Neck-based Icon Engineering is the applicant of record, and permits were filed in July to demolish an existing two-story structure.

Robert Moses irrevocably altered Sunset Park when he ran the Gowanus Expressway down Third Avenue, turning a once-vibrant commercial corridor into a forlorn industrial area covered by a steel and concrete highway. But just a few blocks north in Gowanus, some prewar charm remains in between the auto repair shops and fast food joints.

Stagg Group Plans Another in the Bronx: 3084 Webster Avenue, Norwood

After 50,000 tenants applied to live in the affordable apartments at Stagg Group’s first project in Norwood, Bedford Park Manor, the Bronx developer paid $4.1 million for a property only a few blocks north at 3084 Webster Avenue. Now they’ve filed plans to build an 11-story apartment building on the L-shaped lot between 202nd and 203rd Streets.

Seven-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Project Planned At 37-34 89th Street, Jackson Heights

Property owner Ruo Ruo Yang has filed applications for a seven-story, eight-unit residential building at 37-34 89th Street, in Jackson Heights, right around the corner from the 7 train’s stop at 90th Street and Elmhurst Avenue. The building will total 8,595 square feet, and units will average 1,074 square feet apiece. Chang Hwa Tan’s Flushing-based Tan Architect is designing, and permits were filed earlier this month to demolish an existing two-story home.

In February, glassy renderings surfaced for a 12-story apartment building at 29 Clay Street in Greenpoint. Now the project has taken one more step toward reality with a new building application for a 60-unit development on the property between Manhattan Avenue and Franklin Street.

New Look: School to Condo Conversion at 34 Prince Street

The lovely 19th century building at the corner of Prince and Mott Streets in Nolita has been an orphanage, a school, and a convent, but now a developer has begun transforming the landmarked structure into condos. Today, YIMBY has a new rendering of the structure’s restored facade, as well as a series of images based on historic photographs of the property at 34 Prince Street.

Six-Story, Five-Unit Residential Expansion At 163 East 62nd Street, Upper East Side

Michael Paul Enterprises has filed applications to combine and enlarge two four-story townhouses at 163-165 East 62nd Street, on the Upper East Side. The expanded building will gain two stories, and will stand six stories and 60 feet to the roof. Five residential units will spread across 11,654 square feet, which translates into average units of 2,331 square feet, indicative of condos. Thomas Vail’s Vail Associates Architects is the applicant of record.
