Jersey City’s ongoing boom will give its skyline new tallest towers along the waterfront, and eventually out in Journal Square as well. While those projects may be the most high-profile, a collection of other skyscrapers are rising in tandem across the rest of the city, and now, Jersey is set to get its own architectural equivalent of Manhattan’s Silver Towers, as proposed for 560-580 Marin Boulevard. According to Jersey Digs, the project will have 750 apartments, as well as 240,000 square feet of non-residential square footage, alongside a 1,098-space parking garage. The proposal has already received most of its necessary approvals, and the site is currently occupied by parking lots and a four-story warehouse, which will soon be demolished.

The development boom that began to envelope the 57th Street corridor with One57’s rise is finally at peak frenzy. 220 Central Park South is nearing completion, 111 West 57th Street is being clad in its terra cotta and bronze facade, and the future 1,550-foot-tall 217 West 57th Street, aka Central Park Tower, is also seeing its exterior falling into place.
A few blocks to the northwest of McGolrick Park, off of Nassau Avenue, a new building is coming to 91 Diamond Street, in the heart of Greenpoint, which YIMBY can now reveal. Mortar Architecture + Development is behind the project, which will replace a vacant lot.
The blocks of Greenpoint are hardly renowned for their historic architecture, which is why it is confusing that applications for a new building in the neighborhood would even have to go through the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s approval process. But with plastic-sided housing now vulnerable to the politics of nostalgia, even sites like 111 Noble Street must navigate the city’s tendrils of red tape.
