Governor Andrew Cuomo this week unveiled a multi-billion dollar initiative to revitalize and rebuild infrastructure across New York State. Entitled “Reimagine | Rebuild | Renew,” the 2021 agenda is touted as the largest state infrastructure plan in the country and sets in motion the improvement of state roadways, public transportation, airports, and large swaths of Midtown, Manhattan.
Construction is nearing topping out at 300 West Street, a 16-story mixed-use building in Chelsea. The structure will yield 80 residential units as well as ground-floor retail space. The project is designed by Studio C Architects and developed by Hiwin USA, which purchased the property from Salt Equities in May 2018 for $27.5 million. The site is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 30th Street, a short walk away from number of transit hubs including Penn Station and the newly opened Moynihan Train Hall.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 23-33 Astoria Boulevard in Astoria, Queens. Located between 23rd Street and Crescent Street, the interior lot is west of the Astoria Boulevard subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Perry Moradof under the Astocrest Holding LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
A new 26-story tower in Journal Square could soon begin construction following approvals from the Jersey City Planning Board. The tower will occupy a large T-shaped parcel of land at 415-435 Summit Avenue. The project will eventually debut as 425 Summit Avenue.
Façade installation has resumed at 611 West 56th Street, aka 823 Eleventh Avenue, a 450-foot-tall condominium tower in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza with SLCE as the architect of record, and developed by Sumaida + Khurana and LENY, the 37-story tower will yield 80 units designed by Gabellini Sheppard Associates.
