Over the course of 2018, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development increasingly shifted focus to the development of sustainable, environmentally-conscious housing for low-income New Yorkers. Today, YIMBY has the first look at one such three-story, multi-unit housing development at 190 Essex Street, in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
Now almost at its tenth floor, “The Standard” is on its way to an imminent 14-story pinnacle above New Rochelle. The upcoming residential building is located at 251 Northern Avenue, and began construction earlier this year. The project is being developed by the Cappelli Organization. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in April, and construction has progressed swiftly over the past eight months.
Applications for a new 31-story residential building at 1 Bell Slip in Greenpoint, Brooklyn were filed this week. Located at the north end of Greenpoint, the proposed tower is bordered by Newtown Creek on one end and Commercial Street on the other. The closest subway station, Greenpoint Avenue, is half a mile south on Manhattan Avenue, and is serviced by the G train. Brookfield is listed as the owner behind the applications. This is one of four residential components Brookfield is developing with partner Park Tower Group at Greenpoint Landing, a 22-acre master-planned development site on the Brooklyn waterfront that includes 1 Blue Slip.
Earlier this year, construction kicked off on a new condominium building at 5 Court Square, in Long Island City. Today, the 11-story project has topped-out, with the glass facade about halfway up the structure.
Permits have been filed for two four-story residential buildings on adjacent lots at 1451-1453 Sutter Avenue, in East New York, Brooklyn. The development sites are located between Grant Avenue and Eldert Lane. Nearby transit options include the A train at Grant Avenue, and the A and C trains at Euclid Avenue. 1451-1453 Sutter Avenue, LLC is listed as the owner on the filings.
