The Westchester County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has announced three mixed-use developments that are expected to create more that 3,000 construction jobs and approximately 1,800 residential units. All together, the properties represent $1.2 billion in private investments and are poised to invigorate the downtown White Plains area.
The official groundbreaking ceremony for TF Cornerstone‘s two-towered Hunters Point South project in Long Island City will be held today. In addition to over 1,000 new apartments, the site will give rise to what will temporarily become the tallest skyscraper on Queens’ East River waterfront. Fresh renderings have also been released, revealing additional exterior details of the buildings as well as the landscaped greenery and waterfront esplanade. The buildings’ addresses are 52-03 and 52-41 Center Boulevard.
Following several years of construction and development, Level One Holdings has officially launched sales at 10 Lenox Avenue in South Harlem. Twelve years after its initial proposal, Star Tower at 27-17 42nd Road in Long Island City is finally approaching completion. In 2007, the 26-story, 184-unit tower was slated to star as the tallest and largest apartment development in the Court Square District. Today, the building gets lost amid the newly emerged constellation of high-rises, yet a series of design transformations have produced a final product far superior to the original. The finely crafted façade, designed by JDS Architects, projects a refined modernism and balances contextual reference to its glass-walled neighbors with subtle stylistic expression.
