The building will total 6,388 square feet, which means units will average a rental-sized 710 square feet apiece. Sugnam Chang’s Bensonhurst-based Basic Groups Corp. is the applicant of record, and an existing single-story building must first be demolished.

Carmine Cautella, head of Staten Island-based FJN Development Corp., has filed applications for two two-family residential buildings at 88-90 Craig Avenue, in Tottenville, four blocks from the Nassau station on the Staten Island Railroad. Located on the Island’s southernmost tip, the buildings will measure 2,474 square feet apiece, which means full-floor units will average 1,237 square feet each; the units will be restricted to the second and third floors in both buildings. Stanley Krebushevski’s SMK Architect is the applicant of record, and demolition recently began on an existing two-story house.

17-Story, 275-Unit Building Rising At 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, Pacific Park

Nearly a year ago, YIMBY revealed renderings of the 17-story, 275-unit condominium building planned at 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, in Prospect Heights, and this past summer we posted interior images of the building’s lobby and common areas. Construction is now well underway, and the structure is currently five stories tall, per the latest from Tectonic. A partnership between Greenland Group and Forest City Ratner is developing the building, which is one of many in their Pacific Park development. COOKFOX is designing, and completion is expected in 2017.

Haibin Chen, doing business as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, five-unit residential building at 50-26 101st Street, in Corona, just around the block from the Rego Park-bound Q38 bus stop. The building will total 4,723 square feet, which means units will average 945 square feet apiece. Yuk Lam’s Fresh Meadows-based Lam Engineer is the applicant of record, and an existing two-story house will have to be demolished.

Now, the structure is roughly two floors from topping out, courtesy of the latest from Tectonic. Thomas Juul-Hansen is designing the project, which will also include an approximately 2,500 square-foot retail component, and completion is currently expected by the end of 2016.
