It appears that Robert A. M. Stern Architects‘ 220 Central Park South is finally reaching full completion. The 950-foot-tall, 67-story residential skyscraper tower stands between Seventh Avenue and Columbus Circle and features 593,000 square feet of some of the most expensive living space in New York City. Vornado Realty Trust is the developer of the $1.4-billion-dollar project and expects a $3.4 billion sellout. SLCE Architects is the executive architect, while Thierry W. Despont is the interior designer.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is reviewing proposals from J.L. Ramirez Architect to transform a 12,500-square-foot apartment building into a single-family home. Formerly known as the James P. Warburg Mansion, the historic property is located at 34 East 70th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 248 Winthrop Street in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. Located between Rogers Avenue and Nostrand Avenue, the interior lot is steps from the Winthrop Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. David Sinay under the Bless Winthrop LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Exterior work on Extell‘s Central Park Tower is nearing the finish line. The reflective glass curtain wall is approaching the parapet of the 1,550-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed 217 West 57th Street. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, the supertall has the highest roof level of any building in the Western Hemisphere and will yield 179 residences, with Extell projecting a $4 billion sellout.
Work has yet to commence at 335 Fifth Avenue in Koreatown, where a 26-story mixed-use residential building is expected to rise. Pi Capital Partners filed permits last August for the site, which is located at the corner of East 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue. The 283-foot-tall building is being designed by Raymond Chan Architect and will span 85,224 square feet. Eighty-two residences are expected to be created, averaging 682 square feet apiece.
