Demolition permits have been filed for the one-story building at 151 Broome Street, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Located between Clinton Street and Pitt Street, the mid-block structure has been home to Little Star of Broome Street, an early childhood center servicing the neighborhood. Kevin Cronin of the non-profit organization Grand Street Guild is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Earlier this month, the City Planning Commission approved proposals for four new skyscrapers coming to the Two Bridges section of the Lower East Side. The tallest of the bunch will be 247 Cherry Street, adjacent to the site of Extell’s One Manhattan Square. The upcoming 1,008-foot-tall residential skyscraper will be designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development, and is the 11th tallest tower underway in the Five Boroughs. This supertall is the only project on YIMBY’s end-of-year list where site work has not yet begun, although with City Planning approval now secured, that is hopefully a matter of imminency.
As the 13th-tallest skyscraper under construction in New York City, Robert A. M. Stern’s 220 Central Park South was the third new major residential tower to rise along Billionaire’s Row, just after One57 and 432 Park Avenue. Enclosed in Alabama Silver Shadow limestone, the upcoming 950-foot building yields 70 floors of some of the most prime real estate in New York City, overlooking Central Park and Midtown. Vornado Realty Trust is in charge of the development, while SLCE Architects is the architect of record. The project sellout is expected to be around $3.4 billion.
Construction has kicked-off on Pendry Hotels’ premier New York City location, at 4 Manhattan West. The 21-story hotel is officially named Pendry Manhattan West, and will offer 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums positioned on the tower’s upper levels.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 8800 Bay Parkway, in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. Located between Cropsey Avenue and Bath Avenue, the development is situated two avenues from the Bay Parkway subway station on 86th Street, serviced by the D train. The site is also close to the Bensonhurst Park and Belt Parkway. Billy Xiao of B & J Bay Property Inc. is listed as the owner behind the applications.
