While 2014 was a banner year for new building filings in the five boroughs with 44,817 new units entering the DOB pipeline, 2015 saw a substantial decrease in activity. With 33,973 units filed in new developments over the course of last year, year-over-year filings decreased by almost 25%.
Developer Yin C. Hu has already knocked down a Met Food grocery store to make way for a mixed-use tower at 41-62 Bowne Street in Flushing, and now YIMBY has a look at what the building will look like once it’s complete.
It was back in May of 2015 that YIMBY brought you a new rendering of the 21-story mixed-use development at the corner of Schermerhorn and Nevins streets in Downtown Brooklyn. Now, thanks to photos sent to us by our friend Tectonic, we can report that 319 Schermerhorn Street’s construction has nearly reached the half way mark.
Stories are rising fast at Franklin Avenue and Dean Street in Crown Heights, where a glassy, loft-style rental is replacing part of a 19th century brewery.
Tomer Erlich, doing business as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential building at 204 Monroe Street, in western Bedford-Stuyvesant, located seven blocks north of the Nostrand Avenue stop on the A and C trains. The building will measure 10,000 square feet in total, with 8,000 square feet being used as residential space. Units will average 1,000 square feet apiece, and two duplex units will be located across the third, fourth, and penthouse floors. Robert Lin’s Flushing-based A&T Engineering is the applicant of record. Permits were filed in December to demolish an existing single-story warehouse.
