New Developer Buys Site Of 10-Story Hotel Project At 219 Hudson Street, Hudson Square

Just over a year ago, applications were filed for a 10-story, 56-key hotel building at 219 Hudson Street, in Hudson Square, and since then, the DOB has disapproved of the plans. But now, developer Rafi Gibly has recently sold the development site to Brooklyn-based developer Joel Braver in a $13.2 million deal. It’s not known if the old plans will be reused. The previous plans included a penthouse residential unit, and Rawlings Architects filed for the permit. [The Real Deal]

IFC Center Expansion to 14-16 Cornelia Street Nears LPC Approval

The IFC Center movie theater on Sixth Avenue (at West 3rd Street) is one step closer to an expansion that would double the number of screens and alleviate crowding on the sidewalk. This would be accomplished by expanding to an empty lot located behind it at 14-16 Cornelia Street. On Tuesday, the proposal went before the Landmarks Preservation Commission and the commissioners could have approved the upper floors, but wanted more work done at street level.
