Back in June of 2015, Sam Chang’s Great Neck, N.Y.-based McSam Hotel Group disclosed plans to incorporate a portion of the façade of the six-story Christ Church, at 334-344 West 36th Street in the Garment District, into their planned hotel redevelopment. Now, a rendering of the project has been revealed by the New York Post. The latest building permits indicate a 19-story, 386-key hotel is in the works, which is somewhat scaled-down compared to early filings that listed as many as 566 rooms. It will encompass 132,210 square feet and is being designed by SoHo-based Gene Kaufman Architect. Unfortunately, the six-story parish house portion of the church is in the process of being demolished. It’s expected to be rebuilt with pre-fabricated materials. Guest amenities include a fitness center, meeting rooms, a ballroom, laundry facilities, a restaurant and bar, and storage for 12 bicycles.
It’s been over a year since YIMBY first reported on four new apartment buildings coming to 335-341 Nostrand Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Now we have renderings for the 24-unit project, which is under construction between Gates Avenue and Quincy Street.
When we last checked in on the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed condominium building under construction at 20 East End Avenue, between East 80th and 81st streets in the Yorkville section of the Upper East Side, it had just topped out. That was back in November. Since then, as we can see in photos from our friend Tectonic, the façade is nearly finished.
Another vacant lot in East Harlem is about to be filled in by new construction. An eight-story residential building is planned for 400A East 118th Street, between First and Pleasant avenues.
Back in February of 2015, YIMBY revealed updated renderings of the 30-story, 225-unit mixed-use building under development at 509 West 38th Street, in the Hudson Yards District, located four blocks north of the 34th Street-Hudson Yards stop on the 7 train. Construction kicked off last fall and the structure has since risen to roughly the 22nd floor, as seen in photos by Tectonic. The latest building permits indicate the tower will measure 243,689 square feet. It will include 13,739 square feet of retail space across the ground and second floors, and 29,180 square feet of community space for a non-profit on the ground through fifth floors. The units, which will be rental apartments, should average 786 square feet apiece, of which 46 will rent at below-market rates. Amenities listed on the Schedule A include laundry facilities, bike storage space, and a fitness center. Imperial Companies is the developer, while BKSK Architects is behind the design. Completion is expected in early 2017.
