It was all the way back on March 11th that the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved controversial plans to convert the former First Church of Christ, Scientist in New York City, located at 361 Central Park West and West 96th Street, into 39 condominiums. But that wasn’t the last word. The battle went on in the community board, and it continued this week at the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA), and will continue into 2016.
It’s been 12 long years since the Pacific Park megaproject was first announced as Atlantic Yards, and the Prospect Heights development hit a major milestone yesterday with the topping out of 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, a 17-story condo building. Over the past month, 42-14 Crescent Street, a 48-unit residential building in the Queens Plaza district, has reached ground level and is ready to rise to its full 13-story height. The project is being developed by Meadow Partners and has been designed by John Fotiadis Architect PLLC.
Horizon Construction Inc. has filed applications for a six-story, six-unit residential building at 449 Convent Avenue, in Hamilton Heights, five blocks north of the 145th Street stop on the A and C trains. The project will eventually rise on a vacant 18-foot-wide lot and will measure 5,874 square feet in total, boasting units averaging 979 square feet apiece. Parag Mehta’s Midtown South-based PM Architecture is the applicant of record. Back in 2011, the HPD ordered an emergency demolition of the site’s former four-story, 16-unit building.
A seven-story residential building is coming to the heart of East Williamsburg, on Montrose Avenue between Humboldt Street and Avenue of Puerto Rico. New building applications were filed Tuesday for the project at 172 Montrose Avenue, a block and a half from the Montrose Avenue L stop.
