The NYC Culture Club, a private gallery within the Oculus, has selected artist Todd Stone to host a solo exhibition beginning September 1. The exhibition will feature over 30 works in oil, watercolor, and digital media that document the 20-year story of the rebuilding of downtown, and the 12 years of Stone’s tenure as an artist in residence at the World Trade Center.
Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 380 Chester Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Located between Riverdale Avenue and Livonia Avenue, the lot is one block west of the Rockaway Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, and 4 trains. David Dishy of L+M Development Partners is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 166-11 91st Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Located just off Merrick Boulevard, the lot is is closest to the 169th Street subway station, serviced by the E and F trains. Simranjeet Singh of Shalbro Construction Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Construction is now above street level on 131-141 East 47th Street, a 500-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Midtown East. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Silverback Development, the 34-story structure will yield 200 apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom units as well as 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with frontage along West 47th Street. Silverback was brought onto the project by Hopson Development Holdings, which purchased the parcel for $115 million in December 2019 from the original developers, New Empire Real Estate. Structure Tech New York and Cauldwell Wingate are constructing the building.
Atrium at Sumner is one of several new affordable housing projects to break ground in the outer boroughs this summer as part of a public-private collaboration between city agencies and for-profit developers. The forthcoming property is located on Marcus Garvey Boulevard between Park Avenue and Myrtle Avenue on NYCHA‘s Sumner Houses campus in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
