Located between Manhattan Avenue and Graham Avenue, the corner site is four block east of the Broadway subway station, serviced by the G train. On January 28, the Department of City Planning released the Environmental Assessment Statement (EAS) for the proposed Residential Tower Mechanical Voids Amendment, which seeks to limit non-residential floor heights in future apartment towers within high-density districts. The 48-page document, which outlines the proposal and its impact, reveals a troubling foundation of groundless speculation, elusive language, and self-contradictory statements. The proposed amendment ultimately promises to stifle flexible planning, and fails to present a convincing argument in its support.

Morris Adjmi’s Cantilevering 520 West 20th Street Making Headway in West Chelsea

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects,”The Warehouse,” is located at 520 West 20th Street, next to the High Line between West 19th and 20th Streets. The project topped-out late last year, and is being developed by Elijah Equities. Standing above the West Chelsea neighborhood, the existing 50-foot tall brick structure is being preserved and refurbished. With the base now covered behind black and white-colored construction netting and scaffolding, work on the new three-story suspended and cantilevering metal structure up above continues atop the old roofline.

Alterations Proposed for Historic Manhattan Townhouse at 29 Downing Street, in the West Village

Following the sale of a historic Manhattan townhouse at 29 Downing Street, the new owners have commissioned a restoration of the structure’s facade and the installation of a new entryway to the ground floor storefront. Completed in 1829, the townhouse measures 3,480 square feet and was constructed on land once owned by Aaron Burr, the third Vice President of the United States.

Demolition Permits Filed for 2328-2330 Broadway on the Upper West Side, Manhattan

Full demolition permits have been filed for a couple of two-story buildings at 2328-2330 Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The office buildings were built in 1910, and cumulatively yield 18,870 square feet of space. Plans for the lot are underway by developers Welltower and Hines, which include luxury housing for seniors.

Brookfield’s $2 Billion Two Manhattan West Will Rise Without Anchor Tenant As One Manhattan West Nears Finish Line, in Midtown West

Brookfield is officially set to construct Two Manhattan West without an anchor tenant. The near-supertall tower will be the second-tallest skyscraper in the Manhattan West complex, comprising two million square feet of space, rising 935 feet to its rooftop, and enclosing 62 floors of office space, all at a cost of approximately $2 billion. Meanwhile, work on One Manhattan West is wrapping up, with the facade closing in on completion along the upper floors, while the construction crane is now coming down on the northern elevation.
