Expansion Tops Out At 19-Story, 140-Unit Extended-Stay Hotel At 84 William Street, Financial District

Korman Communities, Shorewood Real Estate Group, and Prodigy Network have recently topped out their 19-story, 140-unit extended-stay hotel building at 84 William Street, in the Financial District, courtesy of a YIMBY reader. The AKA brand will manage the building, and guest suites will range from a few hundred square feet to 1,000 square feet. In addition to the hotel lobby, retail space and a restaurant will be located on the ground floor. Asfour Guzy Architects is designing, and completion can probably be expected in early 2016.

Four-Story Self-Storage Facility Coming To 45-26 51st Street, Sunnyside

James Coakley, doing business as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, 65,900 square-foot self storage facility at 45-26 51st Street, in Sunnyside, two blocks south of the 7 train’s stop at 52nd Street. The building will have 34,141 square feet of commercial space for rentable storage use. Virginia-based Butz Wilbern, LTD, is the applicant of record, and an existing single-story warehouse building must first be demolished.

Three-Story, Six-Unit Residential Project Planned At 209 McKinley Avenue, Cypress Hills

Brooklyn-based S R Builders has filed applications for a three-story, six-unit residential building at 209 McKinley Avenue, in eastern Cypress Hills, located five blocks from the Grant Avenue stop on the A train. The building will measure 6,080 square feet, which means units will average a relatively spacious 1,013 square feet. Arnold Montag’s Great Neck-based AM/PM Design is the architect of record, and the site’s former two-story wood-frame building was demolished back in 2008.

Eight-Story, 44-Unit Mixed-Use Building Now Rising At 100 Avenue A, East Village

In the beginning of September, concrete and rebar rose from the ground at 100 Avenue A, in the East Village, where Ben Shaoul initially planned a six-story, 29-unit residential building with retail space. EV Grieve points out the building has climbed to an unexpected seventh floor, and, per the DOB, an eighth floor is on the way. The building will now contain 44 residential units, averaging 735 square feet, and Blink Fitness is expected to take 12,000 square feet on the ground floor. Issac & Stern Architects have designed the project, and completion is expected next year.

First Two Affordable Buildings Top-Out At Greenpoint Landing

Toward the end of last spring, YIMBY brought you a construction update on the first two affordable housing components for the 5,500-unit Greenpoint Landing megaproject, in northern Greenpoint along the waterfront. At the time, foundation work was underway at 33 Eagle Street, where a seven-story, 98-unit residential building is planned, and now the building appears to have topped out, per Brownstoner.
