An anonymous Brooklyn-based LLC has filed applications for a four-story, four-unit residential project at 493 Evergreen Avenue, in central Bushwick. The new building will measure 5,460 square feet and its full-floor residential units should average 1,070 square feet apiece, which means either condominiums or rentals could be in the works. Olabanji Awosika’s Jamaica-based firm is the architect of record. The 20-foot-wide, 1,950-square-foot lot is currently vacant.

The project will measure 15,227 square feet and its residential units should average 854 square feet apiece, indicative of rental apartments. There will be off-street parking for six cars. Forest Hills-based ARC Architecture + Design Studio is the architect of record. The 3,704-square-foot lot is occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in December.
Brooklyn-based Austin Prop LLC has filed applications for a seven-story, 21-unit mixed-use building at 71-53 Austin Street, in Forest Hills. The project would encompass 27,878 square feet and rise 70 feet in height. Plans call for 6,032 square feet of ground-floor retail space, followed by 21 residential units across the second through seventh floors. The apartments should average 1,040 square feet apiece, which means either condominiums or rentals could be in the works. Brooklyn-based Colkitt Architecture is the architect of record. The 4,965-square-foot assemblage is currently vacant. The developer originally planned a 12,000-square-foot commercial building, with a ProHealth urgent care medical facility, when the site was acquired in early 2016.
The city of New York has two new individual landmarks. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the buildings at 181 Montague Street and 185 Montague Street in Brooklyn. The move extended the preservation of the borough’s banking history.
Foundation work is underway on the 14-story, 37-unit residential building under development at 211 West 28th Street, in Chelsea. Progress on construction can be seen thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The building will contain 24,563 square feet of residential space, which means its units should average 664 square feet apiece. All of the apartments will be designated as supportive housing. Arker Companies and the Chelsea Leaf South Housing Development Fund Corporation are the developers. Aufgang Architects is behind the design. A target completion date is unknown.
