10-Story Mixed-Use Project Tops-Out at 42-60 Crescent Street in LIC
The Court Square Blog reports the 10-story, 40-unit mixed-use development at 42-60 Crescent Street, in Long Island City, has topped out, “and crews have begun façade work.” The building’s retail space will total 2,309 square feet, and completion is expected by the end of this year.
14-Story Affordable Housing Project Planned for 211 West 28th Street in Chelsea
Arker Companies has plans to expand a six-story, 13,300 square-foot commercial building at 211 West 28th Street, in Chelsea, “into a roughly 24,600 square-foot affordable housing building,” The Real Deal reports.
Local Politicans Casting Shadows Over New York City’s Future
The issue of shadows over Midtown had seemingly been settled over a century ago, with the construction of the neighborhood’s first skyscrapers, but many of the new trees in New York’s urban forest will stand a substantial height taller than the existing plateau. While critics have lurked in the background since the death of the original Torre Verre, they are once again out in full force, seeking new limitations on development due to “the shadows.”
Revealed: 26 Starr Street, Three-Building Development in Bushwick
Last year, architect Charles Mallea filed plans for three neighboring buildings with 24 units on Starr Street, between Wilson and Central Avenues in Bushwick. Now YIMBY has renderings for the development, which will rise four stories, spanning the lots of 24-28 Starr Street.
