Yesterday, YIMBY brought you news of the stabilization of the city’s new development pipeline through the end of 2017. Echoing the end-of-year positivity, 2018 has already brought one major new development to light, on Surf Avenue in Coney Island. Today, we have the latest on an even larger project coming to Harlem, with the reveal for the first rendering of the massive expansion proposed for Lenox Terrace, which would eventually yield over 1,600 new apartments by the time of full build-out.
A new rendering is out for 62 and 66 North Third Street, two six-story mixed-use buildings in Brooklyn’s flourishing Williamsburg neighborhood. The nearest subway access is the L train’s first stop in Brooklyn, the Bedford Station. The site is just a block away from the river, five blocks south of the State of New York East River Park, and five blocks north of the Domino Sugar Factory development, where a ferry station may soon be built. David Dweck, Steven Ancona, and Michael Marino have joined together for the development.
Permits have been filed for a four-story, 612-seat public elementary school at 1-35 57th Avenue, in Queens. The project comes as part of the redevelopment of the formerly-derelict Hunter’s Point South neighborhood, along the East River. The area has been activated over the last decade thanks to several residential towers and the HPS Park, alongside a new ferry terminal, which is just a four blocks away from the proposed school. The Vernon Boulevard Subway Station is also eleven blocks away, serviced by the 7 train. The New York City School Construction Authority will be responsible for the development.
Permits have been filed for a three-story residence at 1050 East 3rd Street in Midwood, Brooklyn. The site comes three blocks away from the Avenue I Station, serviced by the F trains. Five blocks away is the historical Washington Cemetery. An anonymous LLC will be responsible for the development.
Permits have been filed for a six-story community facility at 132-49 41st Avenue, in Flushing, Queens. The site is four blocks away from the Main Street Subway Station, the last stop for the 7 Train in Queens. The surrounding area is a relatively dense commercial district compared to the rest of the borough, with the Queens’ Botanical Gardens located seven blocks south. Five blocks further is Flushing Meadows Corona Park. BDW Realty will be responsible for the development.
