A Brooklyn judge ruled Friday that the developers of Pierhouse, the condo-hotel project at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, didn’t violate height restrictions created to protect the view of the eponymous bridge.
The full website for 53W53, Hines’ 73-story, 139-unit luxury residential tower under construction at 53 West 53rd Street, in Midtown, has launched, and a slew of new renderings are now available. Curbed also reports the units in the Jean Nouvel-designed tower will not be publicly listed.
While the mayor and the governor sling mud over 421-a, neither leader has devoted much energy to fixing New York’s byzantine and inequitable property tax system, which hasn’t been reformed in more than 30 years.
Jarrett Huddleston has revived applications, originally filed in 2013, for two buildings spanning the lots 22-24 Frost Street in Williamsburg. At No. 22, a five-story, eight-unit residential building is planned, which works out to each unit averaging a spacious 1,160 square feet. At No. 24, a four-story, two-unit mixed-use building is in store, which will include a small 425 square-foot retail portion. That building will total 5,045 square feet. Robert James is the architect of record, and demolition began last January to remove the existing single-story structure.
Construction is up to the 10th floor of Commune Hotel & Resort’s planned 20-story, 229-key hotel at 50 Bowery, in Chinatown. According to Bowery Boogie, the hotel will be operated by Joie de Vivre, and a retail portion is included in the base of the structure. Peter Poon is designing the project, which is expected to be complete in Spring 2016.
