Property owner Salvador Ortiz, doing business as a Brooklyn-based LLC, has filed applications for a five-story, 10-unit residential building at 126 Manhattan Avenue, in central Williamsburg, located three blocks west of the Montrose Avenue stop on the L train. The project will measure 7,500 square feet, which means units will average 750 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. The structure would be topped by a rooftop recreation space, and Astoria-based Anthony Cucich is the architect of record.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the New York City landmarks law, which empowered the Landmarks Preservation Commission to designate landmarks and historic districts in the five boroughs. With 2015 coming to an end, we thought it would be a good time to review what the commission has protected this year. The forest of high-rise towers in Long Island City is about to get a modest addition. New building applications have been filed for a seven-story, mixed-use project at 37-27 31st Street, beneath the elevated N/Q trains and just north of Sunnyside Yards.
Long Island-based property owner Ijaz Ahmad has filed applications for a five-story, 10-unit mixed-use building at 3802 White Plains Road, in Williamsbridge, located directly below the 219th Street stop on the 2 and 5 trains. The project will measure a total of 11,491 square feet and includes 3,470 square feet of medical offices across the ground and cellar levels. The residential units will begin on the second floor and should average roughly 800 square feet apiece. The building will be topped by a rooftop recreational space. Hackjong Choi’s TriBeCa-based Beyond Arch is the applicant of record.
