Designed by Kutnicki Bernstein Architects and developed by Valyrian Capital and Pan Brothers, the 40,230-square-foot structure will yield 30 units, averaging 1,200 square feet apiece. 270 Park Avenue’s New Superstructure Begins to Rise as Demolition Continues in Midtown East, Manhattan

The first steel beams of JP Morgan Chase‘s 1,425-foot supertall have begun to rise at 270 Park Avenue as work continues on the demolition of its 52-story former headquarters in Midtown East. The new steelwork is being assembled on the Madison Avenue-facing side of the parcel, where a low-rise podium once stood, while the main 707-foot-tall skyscraper formerly known as the Union Carbide Building continues its descent toward Park Avenue. The new tower will eventually span the entire block between East 47th and 48th Streets from Park to Madison Avenues and yield 2.5 million square feet of office space.

Exterior work is wrapping up on 140 West 28th Street, a 470-foot-tall, 46-story dual-brand Marriott Hotel in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect for Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 173,000-square-foot tower will yield 531 guest rooms across both a TownePlace Suites and Springhill Suites. Omnibuild is in charge of construction at the site, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
