2551 Broadway Tops Out Above Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Construction has topped out on 2551-2555 Broadway, a 22-story residential project on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group and developed by Extell, the 276,578-square-foot structure will yield 130 units averaging 1,660 square feet apiece, as well as 9,080 square feet of commercial space. Leeding Builders Group, LLC is the general contractor and Paragon JV Prop. III, LLC is the owner of the property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 96th Street.

141 Willoughby Street’s Core Rises Above Street Level in Downtown Brooklyn

The core has reached street level on 141 Willoughby Street, a 24-story mixed-use building in Downtown Brooklyn. The 400,000-square-foot structure is designed by Fogarty Finger with SLCE as the executive architect and developed by Savanna Real Estate, which just secured $264 million in construction financing for the project. The property will yield office and retail space and is located on a trapezoidal plot bound by Willoughby Street to the south, Gold Street to the west, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the east.

This Monday, the City Planning Commission certified a major initiative to rezone Manhattan’s Soho and Noho Historic Districts. The goal of the initiative is to expand allowable residential density for multifamily buildings, spur the construction of income-restricted and permanently affordable housing, and increase available community facilities.

Façade installation is nearing completion on The Cortland, a 26-story condominium building from Robert A. M. Stern Architects at 555 West 22nd Street in West Chelsea. Developed by Related Companies with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the nearly 300-foot-tall structure will yield 141 units spread across 250,000 square feet, for an average of 2,245 square feet apiece. The building is located along West Street and the Hudson River waterfront between West 22nd and West 23rd Streets.

2330 Broadway’s Superstructure Begins Ascent, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Construction is rising at 2330 Broadway, an 18-story senior living facility on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Welltower, Inc. and Hines, the 230-foot-tall building will yield 162 residences spread across 109,315 square feet, for an average unit scope of 674 square feet. Supportive programming will focus specifically on memory care, and half of the units will be reserved for residents with memory and cognitive disorders.

Ceruzzi Properties Reveals Abstract Mural at The Centrale in Midtown East, Manhattan

Ceruzzi Properties has unveiled a 30-foot mural at The Centrale, a 71-story residential skyscraper at 138 East 50th Street in Midtown East. From Scandinavian painter Tony “Rubin” Sjöman, the mural stands above the building’s second-floor terrace and is an abstract interpretation of the city skyline surrounding East 50th Street.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Washington Manor Apartments, an eight-story residential building at 1969 Washington Avenue in East Tremont, The Bronx. The development yields 46,976 square feet and is designed by OCV Architects. Available on NYC Housing Connect are nine units for residents at 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $39,120 to $77,340.

Excavation Progresses at 65 Franklin Street in Tribeca, Manhattan

Excavation is progressing at 65 Franklin Street, the site of a 19-story residential building in Tribeca. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture, the 210-foot-tall structure will yield 41 homes and ground-floor retail space. The project is being developed by HAP Investment Developers, which secured $94 million in construction financing from G4 Capital Partners in the spring of 2019. The site is located at the corner of Broadway and Franklin Streets, and was formerly occupied by several low-rise structures. Noble Construction Group is the general contractor for the property.

200 Montague Street’s Superstructure Rises Above Street Level in Borough Hall, Brooklyn

Construction is rising on 192 Montague Street, a 20-story residential building in the Borough Hall Skyscraper Historic District of Brooklyn Heights. The 140,700-square-foot structure is designed by Beyer Blinder Belle with James M. Patterson of Ancora Engineering listed as the applicant of record, and developed by Midtown Equities, which purchased the 10,000-square-foot site for $25 million from HSBC Bank.
